IMNST Remembers Professor Wen Hsiung Ko

The late Professor Wen Hsiung Ko, co-founder and first director of the Pen-Tung Sah MEMS Research Center, now known as Pen-Tung Sah Institute of Micro-Nano Science and Technology (IMNST), was remembered at a memorial service held on December 12, 2017 at Yixuan Building, Xiamen University. Faculty and staff of IMNST shared memories of Professor Wen H. Ko and payed tribute to his exemplary MEMS career. Professor Wen H. Ko passed away peacefully at home in Palo Alto, California at the age of 94.

Professor Wen H. Ko was a longtime leader in the field of micro- and nano-electromechanical systems who co-founded the Pen-Tung Sah MEMS Research Center at Xiamen University. A pioneer in microfabricated implantable biomedical instruments, he helped establish several of the United States’ first microfabricated implantable research centers. Throughout his career, Professor Wen H. Ko co-authored 143 articles and 288 proceeding papers, and held 26 patents, serving as a role model for MEMS researchers in both China and the United States.
