We were founded in 1999 as Pen-Tung Sah MEMS Research Center, jointly by Xiamen University, Pen-Tung Sah Educational & Scientific Research Foundation and Xiamen Municipal Government.
We transitioned in 2010 to Pen-Tung Sah Institute of Micro-Nano Science and Technology, not as a departure from the history, but a reborn tailored for the growing preeminence of micro-nano technology.
We are named for Dr. Pen-Tung Sah(Sa Bendong, a preeminent physicist, engine expert, and educationalist), whose student donated the funds to create the institution.
We have nearly 660 square meter of Class 100, 1000, and 10,000 cleanroom in Siming Campus and 480 square meter of Class 1000 and 10,000 cleanroom in Xiang’an Campus.
We have six graduate concentrations (Microelectronics and Solid-State Electronics, Measurement Technology and Instrumentation, Electronic Circuit and System, Photovoltaic Engineering, Energy and Chemical Industry, and Biomedical Engineering).
We offer a Master of Engineering and Doctor of Engineering.
We have faculty appearing in multiple research categories.
We are situated among the buildings housing the University's Library, and its Chemistry and Economics schools.
